Ok, I really had not planned on blogging today. I was still caught up in the rapture of yesterday’s stellar weather… But in the typical ‘Windy City’ fashion, on the First Day of Spring it is snowing, with a 20 mile an hour wind (thus causing a wind chill factor of 21 degrees Fahrenheit). So…. I just have to have a little rant here.
I really need to take the front ‘holiday grouping’ down anyway, but this photo could have been taken anytime this winter – but it’s NOT! It’s the first day of spring – 2010!
There was a sweet robin sitting in a maple tree this morning – looking around confused (sorta!?!). It’s Illinois, it’s Chicago-land – the weather changes every five minutes, but boy, snow on the first day of spring really takes the wind out of your sails!
Well, 'time to make lemonade’ – I’ll read up on your warm weather blogs and dream of better weather!
“Happy Spring!”
Oh dear - take heart. We were much like that about ten days ago, but we do seem to have turned the corner now ...
ReplyDeleteIt's just so annoying when the weather doesn't deal the cards fairly! Over here the 'wet'/ 'cyclone' season just simply won't end ... and it's already nearing the end of the first month of Autumn! Let's hope we see better weather soon.
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't seem very fair, snow on the first day of Spring?! I sure hope it warms up soon and you can get back to the nicer weather again.
ReplyDeleteWell, your snow is beautiful, but I would be a bit under the weather, too, if that happened here! Our weather was gorgeous the last couple days but is predicted to be wet and cold(low in the 30's) the next few days. So I am glad I got some good gardening in. I hope your spring comes in soon!
ReplyDeleteWell I've dropped by again ... is the snow melting yet?
ReplyDeleteAnyway just popped in to say thanks for visiting my blog ... I appreciated your kind comments about the greenhouse garden, but it's very much a work in progress. Sounds like you've got some great plans underway for your SW garden ... will look forward to seeing it's development.
Wow! This would ruin my day too!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the words of encouragement! Looking back, I feel a bit like an insolent child - whining about weather that is so typical in the midwest. The snow has melted and even though the breeze was brisk today - the sun was bright! GO Spring!
ReplyDeleteOh, Shyrlene. I'm depressed for you...what a complete bummer! I'm glad to read your comment that the snow is gone now...I hope the spring warmth comes quickly for you!
