"What Do You Do With a Drunken Sailor?"

You can't make this stuff up!

We have had an interesting run of weather lately.  Not nearly as devastating as the rains in Tennessee or as mind-boggling as snow in Vermont - but note worthy, for certain!  A couple of weeks ago we had 2 days and nights of high winds.  While we kept our eyes to the sky, watching branches bend in un-natural ways - it never occurred to me to check 'The 3 Wisemen' (I know - I should change the moniker...).

Just look at these poor things?!!  They look like they have been 'over-served' at happy hour!  Immediately following the windy days, cool rain moved in - on and off.  We haven't been able to 'right the wrong' and it's making me twitchy.  Perhaps I was a little too crazy on soft compost and not staunch enough of putting back some of the sturdy topsoil displaced during planting?  Oh well, it'll provide entertainment for the neighbors for the time being!

In the meantime.... the gardens GROW!  <yay!>

Japanese Painted Fern paired with Ajuga
(Year 2 - they still get along)

Brothers of a different Mother?!
"Fire & Ice" and "Golden Jewel"

I'm not 100% on the name 'Golden Jewel' - it was a 'sandbox' swap w/ my garden buddy.  More treasures include my next 'planting projects'!:
Gifts are GOOD!  :o)

  2. Thanks Jim! You & Pat were my inspiration with the Hostas. Until we did the renovation - I had full sun in the backyard. Not very 'Hosta-friendly'. Now - it's a whole new world! I am just loving it...

  4. Now I have the song stuck in my head. I quite like your drunker sailors like that...they put me in mind of cartoon character trees caught in the act of running around the garden :D

  5. Heidi - I love that imagery! I can totally imagine the trees caught in the act of romping around! We're hoping to get them upright this weekend before more rain comes in... Great to hear from you!

  6. They are a bit tipsy! I'm glad you didn't suffer any real damage. I'm always a little nervous during tornado season!
