Every once in a while, a natural phenomenon comes along that is just too breathtaking for words. Last night (6/23/10) we looked to the skies (rather than the gardens) in northern Illinois. I hope you enjoy the view...
(These photos were not retouched or enhanced with software - just point & click.)
Two hours before, there were torrential rains and a tornado warning
How could you even explain this to someone, without a picture?
God's paintbrush....
Day is done
Red sky in the morning....
ReplyDeleteSailor be warned..... :D
ReplyDeleteThose are so beautiful!! I've only seen that once in person, and I was lucky enough to photograph it, I posted the pics in a blog awhile back. Amazing phenomenon, isnt it? :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a firey sky that is Shyrlene and such amazing photos! The moodiness of the second shot really got me. It reminds me of the sky during a bushfire.
ReplyDeleteWhile your sunset is far more beautiful, our little family was distracted by quite a lovely sunset the other night as we were walking to my daughter's parent-teacher interview. We were a little late and had to sit there while her teacher told us she would do better if she weren't so easily distracted. I wonder where she gets that from!
Beautiful! Your first shot looks almost exactly like one I took on Wednesday evening. I've never seen a sky quite like it, but the overall effect was kind of yellow. It reminds me of a Turner painting.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME pictures!!!! So glad you were able to get them!!! Red
ReplyDeleteExtraordinary! Storm clouds sometimes produce the most spectacular sunsets. I could get lost in that second photo, especially. Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThose are just beautiful shots! It's just amazing the colors the sky changes to.

ReplyDeleteNothing short of spectacular, Shyrlene!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for such kind words on the 'sky pictures'! It was an amazing evening after torrential rains. My trusty camera took very good care of me, with a very BIG memory card! :)
